Barbecue Okra

Cucumber Raita

Pointer: Baby cucumbers are the best for this raita.


  • 4 baby cucumbers, shredded or chopped fine
  • 1 medium-sized tomato, diced
  • 2 cups non-tart yogurt
  • 2 tsps. salt
  • Cumin powder, freshly toasted and powdered
  • 2 tsps. cayenne pepper powder
  • 2 Tbsps. fresh coriander, chopped
  • 1/2 a medium sized onion, diced


Mix the above ingredients in a bowl. Add some cold water if the mix is too thick. Transfer to a serving dish. Serve with Indian breads or any Indian dish.

Cucumber raita is a great addition to any dish, south or north Indian.
