Saambhar Powder, home made
Pointer 1: This is the authentic and the best Iyer Saambhar podi.
Ingredients:
- 4 cups dry red chillies
- 2 cups coriander seeds^
- 1/2 cup channa dhal^
- 1/2 cup toor dhal^
- 2 cups coriander seeds^
- 1 tsp. fenugreek seeds^
- 1/2 cup turmeric pieces
Method:
Sun dry the above ingredients on flat trays on a day when the temperature is around 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Grind them all to a very fine powder. I store them in air tight containers or double bag them in zip lock bags and store in the refrigerator. One large zip lock lasts for months.
