Wheat Germ Burger

Veggie Burger 2 made with wheat germ

Frozen or fresh wheat germ will work. The above picture shows wheat germ powder on one side and to the right burgers made with them.


  • 2 cups wheat germ
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 red onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlice diced fine
  • 2 green chillies diced
  • 2 Tbsp. fresh coriander chopped fine
  • 1 tsp. chillie powder
  • 1 egg beaten
  • Bread crumbs to coat the burgers
  • Oil to cook on skillet if sautéing
  • Your preferred sauces if barbecuing
  • Salt to taste

  • Method:

Sauté garlic, onions and chillies first in a tsp. of oil. Add the tomatoes and wheat germ and cook covered for about 8 minutes. Open lid to allow any liquid remaining to evaporate.

Remove from stove. Spread onto a bowl or plate. Add salt, chillie power and coriander. Mix well and roll into lemon sized balls. Coat with egg. Roll onto a plate of bread crumbs. Flatten out to patties.

Either grill or sauté with desired sauces. Use good hamburger buns.
