Spicy thool bhajji

Thool Bhajji

Pointer 1: Pick red onions if you want the taste and aroma of onions with no sweet after taste.

Ingredients:

  • 1" long slim cut red onions
  • 2 cups Channa dhal flour
  • 1/3 cup rice flour
  • 1 Tbsp. red chillie powder
  • 2 tsps. salt
  • Warm water to mix the flours
  • Canola oil for frying

Method:
Take a mixing bowl. Add all above ingredients. Mix well to make a batter the consistency of pancake mix.

Take a wok^. Add the oil and heat to about 300 degrees. When the oil is hot enough, take handfuls of the batter and spread around into the hot oil. Fry on medium low heat, then increase heat to high and continue until the bhajji turns golden brown. Remove from oil and spread them out onto a paper towel, so the extra oil is absorbed. Serve with ketchup or any kind of chutney.

Optional: You may also add diced green chillies into the mix for extra spice.
