Black Lentil dhal
Pointer 1: Use raw or canned black lentil.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups raw lentil
- 1 medium sized red onion chopped
- 2" fresh ginger sliced thin
- 2 green chillies slit
- 2 tsp. cumin seeds
- 2 Tbsp. garlic-ginger paste
- 2 tomatoes chopped
- 2 tsps. mixed masala
- 1/4 cup cream
- Oil to sauté
- Salt to taste
- 2 Tbsps. fresh coriander
- a dollop of butter
Method:
Cook lentils under pressure.
Take a pan, use 1 Tbsp. canola oil. Splurt cumin seeds, add onion and chillies. Sauté until onions are done. Add garlic-ginger paste. Mix well, then add the tomatoes. Cover and cook the tomatoes for about 8 minutes.
Add the cooked dhal and 1/4 cup water with the above ingredients. Add the masala powder and cream. Finally add the butter and mix well. Garnish with coriander.
Serve with Indian breads.
